The dataset contains Year and State wise Population Estimates - Multi-dimensional Poverty Index(MPI) Headcount Ratio: This is the proportion of multidimensionally poor individuals in the total population. It is also known as the incidence of poverty and broadly explains ‘how many are poor’. It is calculated by dividing the number of multidimensionally poor individuals by the total population. Intensity of Poverty: This represents how poor the poor are. It is the average proportion or share of weighted deprivations experienced by multidimensionally poor individuals. MPI Index: The Multidimensional Poverty Index is the product of the Headcount Ratio (H) and the Intensity of Poverty (A) (MPI = H x A). It reflects both the incidence (how many are poor) and the intensity (how poor are the poor) of multidimensional poverty.
