The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has classified heavy rainfall events into three major categories (heavy rainfall: 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm, very heavy rainfall: 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm, extremely heavy rainfall: 204.5 mm and above). The state wise data of heavy rainfall events in terms of their frequency of occurrence for each category in the last decade has been collated in this dataset.
