Year-wise Money Rates in India
The data shows the year-wise different money rates in India between 2000-01 and 2017-18. Note: 1. Data taken annually as at end-March. 2. Data for 2017-18 as at end-August. 3. Data on lending rate relate to five major Public Sector Banks up to 2003-04. For the subsequent years, the data relate to five major banks. 4. Date on lending rate relate to either Prime Lending Rate (PLR) or Benchmark Prime Lending Rates (BPLR) or Base Rate (BPLR) or Base Rate or Marginal Cost of Funds Based Lending Rate (MCLR) (overnight), as the case may be, for the relevant year. 5. BPLR system, effective November 2003, was replaced by the Base Rate System, effective July 1, 2010. 6. Base Rate System effective from July 1, 2010 was replaced by MCLR System effective from April 1, 2016.
