The Disposal of Cases by Police in India collection, based on National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, provides information on the investigation and disposal of criminal cases by police across India. Covering both Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Special and Local Laws (SLL) offences, the collection includes crime wise and state wise statistics on cases under investigation, chargesheets submitted, final reports, false cases, non cognizable cases, cases with insufficient evidence, transferred, reopened, quashed, stayed, withdrawn, and pending cases. It also provides key investigation indicators such as chargesheeting rates, pendency percentages, total cases for investigation, and total cases disposed off by police. Together, these datasets support analysis of police investigation efficiency, case backlog, investigation outcomes, and the overall functioning of the criminal investigation process in India.
