Year, State and Category-wise Area under Wastelands during 2015-16 vis-a vis 2008-09

Data in table tells us about the year-wise and category-wise wastelands in India. Categories mentioned in the table are- Gullied/Ravenous land, Land with/without dense open scrub, Water logged/ Marshy land, Saline/Alkaline area, Shifting cultivation area, Deg. Notified forest land, Deg. pastures/grazing land, Deg. land under plantation crop, Sands- Inland coastal, Mining/ Industrial wastelands, Barren rocky area, Steep sloping area, Snow/glacial area and the total wastelands. The data recorded is from all States and Union territories of India for year 2000 and 2010. Note: Un-surveyed area of 120849 Sq. Kms. of Jammu & Kashmir not included.
