The data shows the number of home deliveries attended by Non-SBA trained that is a trained TB or a Dai Note: (1) SBA - Skilled Birth Attendants is "an accredited health professional - such as midwife, doctor or nurse - who has been educated and trained to achieve proficiency in the skills needed to manage normal (uncomplicated) pregnancies, childbirth and immediate postnatal period. (2) TB - Traditional birth attendant. A traditional birth attendant, also known as a traditional midwife, community midwife or lay midwife, is a pregnancy and childbirth care provider. (3) Dai - The dai, or traditional birth attendant (TBA), remains the primary health care provider during pregnancy and childbirth in much of rural India. Typically an older or widowed woman, the dai draws upon years of experience and generations of traditional knowledge for her delivery practice.
