Data of home deliveries attended by trained Skilled Birth Attendants

The data shows the number of home deliveries attended by SBA-trained doctors, nurses or an ANM. Note: (1) SBA - Skilled Birth Attendants is "an accredited health professional - such as midwife, doctor or nurse - who has been educated and trained to achieve proficiency in the skills needed to manage normal (uncomplicated) pregnancies, childbirth and immediate postnatal period. (2) ANM - Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery is a village-level female health worker in India who is known as the first contact between the community and the health services. ANMs are regarded as the grass-roots workers in the health organisation pyramid. Their services are essential to providing safe and effective care to village communities. The role may help communities achieve the targets of national health programmes.
