The dataset contains year, age-group, state and gender-wise number and share of medically certified deaths categorised by the major cause group of death. The MCCD is a system that medically certifies the registered deaths, under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969. The major groups of diseases covered in the dataset include Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Puerperium, Certain Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, Injury, Poisoning and Certain Other Consequences of External Causes, Codes for Special Purposes, Neoplasms, Mental and Behavioural Disorders, Diseases of Blood and Blood Forming Organs and Certain Disorders Involving the Immune Mechanism, Endocrine, Nutritional and Metabolic Diseases, Symptoms, Signs and Abnormal Clinical and Laboratory Findings, Certain Conditions Originating in the Perinatal Period, Congenital Malformations, Deformations and Chromosomal Abnormalities, Diseases of the Digestive System, Skin and Subcutaneous Tissue, Musculoskeletal System and Connective Tissue, Genitourinary System, Nervous System, Eye and Adnexa, Ear and Mastoid, Circulatory System, Respiratory System
