NCRB - Crimes against Women: Year and State wise Incidence, Victims, and Crime Rates of Dowry Crimes Against Women

This dataset provides annual, state level statistics on dowry related crimes against women in India, sourced from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). It tracks both Dowry Deaths (Sec 304B IPC) and offences registered under the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, offering a detailed breakdown of total incidences, the number of victims, and the overall crime rate across different states and union territories over time. Note: From 2001 to 2011, NCRB used total state population to calculate "Crime Rate". From 2012 onwards crime rate is based specifically on the population segment affected (e.g., crime rate against women is calculated using only the female population) to provide more meaningful analysis.
