Direct (Income) Tax Data: Assessment Year and PAN Category Wise Total Number of Taxpayers

The dataset contains year-wise Total Number of Taxpayers by different types of direct (income) taxpayers such as Artificial Juridical Person, Local Authority, Association of Person, Body of Individual, Company, Firm, Hindu Undivided Family, Individual, etc. Note: 1. A “Taxpayer” is a person who either has filed a return of income for the relevant Assessment Year (AY) or in whose case tax has been deducted at source in the relevant Financial Year but the taxpayer has not filed the return of income. 2. AOP & BOI category has been merged in one category i.e. “Other AOP/BOI”, accordingly data for AOP & BOI has been clubbed. 3. PAN Category- ‘Government’ has been changed to PAN Category –‘Others’
