Forest Land Diversion: Year-wise Total Forest Land diverted for different Types of Projects

The dataset contains year-wise compiled data on the total forest land diverted for non-forestry use for different types of project such as Approach Access Roads, Borehole Prospecting, Canals, Defence, Dispensary/Hospital, Drinking Water, Forest Village Conversion, Hydel Industry, Irrigation, Mining, Optical Fibre Cable, Others, Pipeline, Quarrying, Railway, Rehabilitation, Road, School, Solar Power, Sub Station, Thermal Projects, Transmission Lines, Village Electricity, Wind Power, etc. including Encroachments. Note: The Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 defines non-forest use of forest land as breaking up or clearing of any forest land or portion thereof for any purpose other than reafforestation, including cultivation of tea, coffee, spices, rubber, palms, oil-bearing plants, horticultural crops or medicinal plants in the forest areas. However, any work relating or ancillary to conservation, development and management of forests and wildlife, namely, the establishment of checkposts, fire lines, wireless communications and construction of fencing, bridges and culverts, dams, waterholes, trench marks, boundary marks, pipelines or other like purposes, are not considered as non-forest use of forest areas.
