Year and Foodgrain-wise Per Capita Net Availability of Foodgrains (Per Annum) in India

The dataset contains the year wise statistics of the per capita availability of food grains.The individual years are 1951, 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1985 and the consecutive years are from 1990 to 2022. The food grains are broadly categorised into rice, wheat, other cereals, cereals and pulses. Notes : 1. Net availability of foodgrains is estimated as: Gross Production (-) seed, feed & wastage (-) exports (+) imports (+/-) change in stocks. In other words, the net availability of foodgrains is calculated by subtracting the seed, feed, and wastage from the gross production and then adding the exports, imports, and changes in stocks. 2. Net availability of foodgrains divided by the population estimates for a particular year indicate per capita availability of foodgrains in terms of kg/year. Per capita availability of food grains implies the amount of food grains available per person. 3. The per capita net availability of foodgrains is calculated on Financial Year basis from 2022 onwards and is not compatible with the old series which was based on calendar year 4. The latest data is as per provisional figures based on 4th Advance Estimates of Production for 2021-22, Net imports during Apr 2021- Mar 2022 and Stock position as on 23.11.2022
