State and Year-wise Total Number of Factories and the Estimated Average Daily Employment

The dataset contains the State and Year-wise Total Number of Factories and the Estimated Average Daily Employment. Note: 1. The average daily employment for an industry group or a State is obtained by summing up the reported and estimated figures of average daily employment for all factories belonging to an industry or a State. 2. Data is based on the returns received under 2m(i) & 2m(ii) Factories Act. The Factories Act, 1948 is not implemented in four States/Union Territories namely, Arunachal Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Mizoram and Sikkim. 3. Totals may not tally due to rounding off of figures. 4. Jharkhand is the new state carved out from Bihar in the year 2000. 5. Data is not received from rest of the States/Union Territories for particular years where the data entry is left blank.
