The collection contains year-, state- and city-wise historically compiled National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data from the year 2002 on the number of cyber crimes committed in violation of various legislations such as Indian Penal Code (IPC), Information Technology Act (IT Act), other State and Local Laws (SLL) such as Gambling Act, Lotteries Act, Trademark Act, Copyright Act, etc. The datasets contained in the collection also include datasets categorized by number of cyber crimes by their motives, types of crimes, and by their disposal status with police and in courts.

The collection consists of data related to persons reported as missing and those traced or recovered, including women and children as per the Crime in India Report of NCRB. The data is available for states, across age groups, and by gender.

For SLL crimes, the collection includes offences registered under a wide range of laws including the Arms Act, NDPS Act, IT Act, Wildlife Act, Dowry Prohibition Act, SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, POCSO Act, Child Labour Act, Juvenile Justice Act, Domestic Violence Act, Chit Funds Act, Prevention of Corruption Act, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, Environmental and Pollution Control Acts, Motor Vehicle Act, Passport Act, Explosives Act, Gambling Act, Bonded Labour Act, and State-specific Police Acts, covering categories such as illegal arms, trafficking, prostitution, corruption, narcotics, online cyber offences, child protection, excise violations, counterfeit currency and environmental violations.

The Violent Crimes dataset collection provides comprehensive statistical information on serious offences involving physical violence and threat to life recorded in India. Compiled from National Crime Records Bureau data, the collection covers year wise, state wise, city wise, and crime head wise counts of violent crimes registered under the Indian Penal Code. The datasets include major categories such as murder (Sec.302 IPC), culpable homicide not amounting to murder (Sec.304 IPC), attempt to commit murder (Sec.307 IPC), attempt to commit culpable homicide (Sec.308 IPC), grievous hurt (Sec.325, 326, 326A and 326B IPC), kidnapping and abduction (Sec.363–369 IPC), rape (Sec.376 IPC), attempt to commit rape (Sec.376 read with Sec.511 IPC), dowry deaths (Sec.304B IPC), infanticide (Sec.315 IPC), foeticide (Sec.316 IPC), rioting (Sec.147–151 and 153A IPC), robbery (Sec.392–394 IPC), dacoity (Sec.395–398 IPC), and arson (Sec.435–438 IPC).
