Sahitya Akademi Awards: Year, Author and Language-wise Bhasha Samman Awards

Sahitya Akademi - Bhasha Samman Award was constituted in 1996 to be given to writers, scholars, editors, collectors, performers or translators who have made considerable contribution to the propagation, modernization or enrichment of the languages concerned. Every year, the Bhasha Samman awards are given to 3-4 persons in different languages on the basis of recommendation of experts' committees constituted for the purpose. Two sammans are given for contribution to unrecognized languages and are given for scholars in the field of classical and medieval literature. The Samman carries a plaque along with an amount equal to its awards for creative literature. This dataset contains the list winners of the award, name of their work, and the category of work (classical and medieval) for all the languages for which the award is given. Note: Duo in award_type column indicates those who were awarded jointly
