The collection contains Year-, State-, Region-, Gender-, Social-group and Age-group-wise historically compiled data from National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO/NSO) reports on the subject of Education and Employment in India. The specifics of data coverned in the datasets include independent data on level of education among persons of 15 years and 5 years, households with no literate members of age group 15 years and above, literacy rate among different persons of different age and social groups, attendance rate in educational institutions, non-Literacy among rural and urban population of India, number of households who possess lands in rural india, number of households and who have undertaken cultivation on agricultural lands, types of employment people were engaged in, including participation and benefits under NREGS Scheme, etc. The coverage of data is from the year 2000 to 2012 (until the publication of latest report)

(As per 2024 NIRF Report) The collection contains year-wise compiled data and the pertinent datasets on different parameters and aspects relating to scoring and ranking of higher educational institutions in India, based on the data published by Ministry of Education under National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) The specifics of data contained in the datasets include details relating to admissions and placements such as number of student admissions, graduations, placements, etc., the financial details such as capital, operational and other types of expenditure incurred, the profits earned, etc. research details such as number of consultancy and research projects taken up, number of funding/client organizations, the funds received, the faculty available together with their qualifications, etc. Based on these and other partmeters, the NIRF has also published university/institute-wise score and ranking of each higher educational institutions, which have also been made as separate datasets in the collection.

The collection contains Year- and State-wise historical data on higher education and its related aspects in India, compiled from All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) reports. The range of data contained in the datasets include number of students, including foreign students, enrolled and passed out, both in regular and distance modes, in different courses and programmes of under graduate, post graduate, doctorate and other discipline of studies. Further, the collection also includes data on different types of educational institutions such as universities, colleges and other institutions (public, private, deemed, etc.), and their number, by the types of education that they offer. It also contains data on student-teacher pupil ratio, number of teaching and non-teaching staff, along with number of posts, in different types of educational institutions. The granual coverage of data is from the year 2010 to 2021 and it is categorized by gender, social group (caste), economic, physical and community status. Note: The AISHE data is collected by Department of Higher Education (DoHE) based on web-based survey and not by physical survey. Further, the data is based only on the institutions which have provided information and it does not include the data of institutions which have not provided data to DoHE

This collection contains details on the key trends and the performance of states in the Performance Grading Index published by the Ministry of Education. This includes the performance of states over the last few years, the cumulative number of states in each level of ranking, and domain-specific changes for states over the last few years.
